Affordable Housing 101 Lunch & Learn

What is affordable housing and how can we ensure everyone has a place to call home in North King County?

On May 14, 2024, NUHSA hosted a noontime presentation in collaboration with the Housing Development Consortium and city partners to provide an overview of the regional housing landscape and specific housing needs in Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, Kenmore, Bothell and Woodinville.

A comprehensive glossary of relevant affordable housing concepts and terms was also shared as part of the presentation, which was attended by nearly 90 residents and community leaders. Developed by NUHSA’s Housing & Homelessness Committee under the leadership of NUHSA Board Member and Woodinville City Councilmember Sarah Arndt, this cross-referenced document aims to provide a foundation for shared language and understanding when discussing housing needs and strategies.

NUHSA’s event was provided as part of the 9th Annual Affordable Housing Week (AHW), a series of education and advocacy events throughout King County that highlight the role affordable housing plays in stabilizing our communities and creating momentum for investments and policies to ensure affordable, thriving and equitable communities.
